Preventing Damage to Your Battery

Certain factors may lead to battery damage. They are listed below.

  • Leaving your Falcon on the charger at 100% charge. Consider doing partial charges up to 80% state of charge instead of a 100% charge. If the lithium battery is going to reach 100% charge, make sure to take the device off power immediately once reaching that level.
  • Long exposure to extreme temperatures. Duress Falcon is designed to work in ambient temperatures between 0° and 35° C (32° and 95° F) and stored in temperatures between -20° and 45° C (-4° and 113° F). Battery life can be shortened if stored or operated outside of these temperature ranges
  • Allowing your Falcon's battery to reach 0% on a regular basis can affect its longevity.

If you suspect damage has occurred, or you've noticed a drain in the battery, please submit a request here

What's causing your Falcon battery levels to drop?

The two main factors draining your device's battery are:

  • Activating emergencies: When you activate an emergency, Duress™ Falcon starts uploading your live video and audio together with your live location. As you can imagine, these activities require a lot of battery, so the more emergencies or help requests you activate throughout the day, the quicker your battery will drain.
  • Operating in low coverage areas:  If your Falcon struggles to hold a steady 4G connection, you may be in a low coverage area. Whenever you are located in a low coverage area, your Falcon is actively searching for a better connection, which in turn affects your battery levels.

You may want to consider connecting your Falcon to your Wifi or switching SIM card providers if you suspect that your low connectivity is having an effect on your Falcon's battery life. Reach out to our support team to discuss the best option for you.

Connected Everywhere

Duress Falcon runs on the Telstra or Optus 3G and 4G network in Australia, the Spark network in New Zealand, and can also connect to WiFi.

If connected to WiFi, Falcon will connect to our mobile network as soon as you leave your WiFi's range, and will reconnect as soon as it's available again, just like your phone.

Connecting your Duress™ Falcon to your WiFi network may be a solution if you are located in a low coverage area and are experiencing connectivity and battery issues.

Get in touch with our support team if you'd like us to connect your Falcon to your WiFi network.
