When does Duress™ use the Microphone and Camera?
Only when you declare an emergency.
When activating an emergency, we stream live video and audio through to our Operations centre so they can verify what is happening, which allows them to request emergency services.
When does Duress™ use my location?
Only when you declare an emergency or request assistance.
Duress™ streams your location only during an emergency, and updates your location every 5 seconds for the duration of the emergency. When you request assistance, your device will ping your location to your nominated people to assist you.
How do I know if my device is streaming video, audio and location?
It is displayed on the screen.
If activated, your screen will show the live video feed, letting you know that you are broadcasting from your device.
Can my administrators log in to a portal and remotely view my location?
No
Administrators of an organisation cannot view your location unless you have activated an alarm.
Can my administrators remotely turn on my camera or microphone?
No
There is no functionality allowing remote access to a device.
Can Duress™ remotely turn on my camera or microphone or access my location?
No
There is no functionality allowing remote access to a device.
Can Emergency Services remotely turn on my camera or microphone?
No
Even though this would be a great feature to assist people who need assistance, our privacy policy does not allow emergency services to remotely access location or video unless the user has activated Duress™.
If I lose my Duress™ device, can my administrators or Duress™ help me locate it?
No
As there is no functionality to remotely access the device, the only assistance administrators or Duress™ can provide for a lost or missing device, is to call it.
